This novel loosely covers events in the first five episodes of the series, with the focus being primarily on Utena, Miki, and Touga. Utena falls into the dueling game in an effort to protect her friend Wakaba and find her own Prince. The author describes the principle differences as being in the 'vectors' of the relationships. Miki's attention is drawn to Utena rather than Anthy , and Touga is seen to have, shall we say, a more hands on approach to administration in the Student Council. Juri is present but largely as a character Miki and Touga bounce off, to be honest. Of the two novels, this one more closely reflects the events as you've seen them transpire, though it definitely does its own thing within them, and includes a few scenes from totally different places in the series.
Though there's a couple suggestive moments, it's absolutely nothing worse than the first arc of the series. The tone is similar to the episodes it draws from.

I formatted this content initially in HTML, with the intent to convert cleanly to ePub. As such these are the two 'best looking' versions. The MOBI and PDF files are ePub conversations through Calibre. The former I cannot personally test since I don't have a Kindle, and the latter is perfectly useable, just not as pretty as reading it in ePub.
