This is a static copy of In the Rose Garden, which existed as the center of the western Utena fandom for years. Enjoy. :)
Supposedly, Tomoko Kawakami died yesterday at age 40.
Noone seems to be able to make any proof, but considering she seemed to have been dropping roles due to illness, it makes sense.
Anyway, figured I'd post.

Unfortunately it looks like the rumors are true. Ikuhara is talking about her sudden death on his tweeter account. May she rest in peace

Rest in peace. This makes me sad, she was far too young to pass.

She's really been fighting the cancer, but it's just so sudden. However, her suffering is now over.
Rest in peace, Utena-sama. You will surely be missed.

This is incredibly sad news...
When I get around to watching the new SKU box sets, it will be in her honor.

I'm not a religious person, but who knows. Maybe she's merely left our world.
Don't worry, no of us here will forget you, Tomoko.

This is very saddening.
Rest in Peace, prince.

Wow, that's a bummer. You guys must feel like I did when Shirley Walker died (composer for 90's Batman Animated Series)

They say that only the good die young. This is horribly sad. Ovarian cancer is most commonly diagnosed when the patient is in her sixties, but Tomoko was only 40. Rest in peace.

You brought so much joy and a few tears with your incredible voice acting Ms Kawakami. You will be in Utena fans' hearts forever. I pray her family can get through this difficult time.

"Someday, I want to go to that castle hanging in the sky. There is something eternal up there." I pray that it's a very beautiful castle with something truly eternal.
Rest in peace, dear prince. We'll miss you dearly.

I can't believe it...
Goodnight, Sweet Prince.

Only 40? That's a tragedy. She'll be greatly missed
My thoughts and well wishes go to her family and all of us who were touched by her role as Utena. May she rest in peace.

Oh my God, that's so sad. I don't know much about her, but I really loved listening to her voice for all these years. Rest in peace.

40 years old, dead of cancer. I can't even imagine. At least she is no longer suffering.
Good night, sweet Prince.

The first (and probably last) time "Good night sweet prince" is used sincerely on the Net.
That said,
Good night, sweet prince.

Rule 34 commemorates Tomoko's death with some Utena gorn.
