This is a static copy of In the Rose Garden, which existed as the center of the western Utena fandom for years. Enjoy. :)
Hey everyone,
I've been toying around with this idea for a bit now, and I'm interested to see if it is a good one. I'm thinking of making an Utena Wiki. This is primarily because I feel like Utena is such a big thing that it needs one, and because I know that the good people of this forum would have a ton of valuable things to say. I've downloaded the software, so I really only need two things to get this going: 1) a suitable place to host it and 2) input/people who are willing to work on this with me. Any thoughts?
Edited by satyreyes to add: The wiki is up! You can go visit here!

I can't agree more. I'd LOVE to have an Utena Wiki.

It's definitely in the spirit of Utena. I like it.

With a name like that, not only does the name allow anyone who has even just heard of SKU know it is goning to be a Utena based wiki, the French gives it that SKU feel that runs through the show.
How about this for the wiki logo?
EDIT: Fixed Piccy

Tamago I LOVE YOU! This is wonderful, thanks so much.
As far as hosting goes, Wikia sounds like a good idea. I may not be able to pay for a domain, although it would be fantastic if the wiki could end up right here at EM somehow.

.com/.net domains are fairly cheap. Like less than 10 dollars per year if you're buying them from the right place.
Thanks for the info. I may have to check that out. Also I created a wikia account. If doing this for free is my best option, I'll work on a mission statement and submit a wiki creation request. Just so I know, how many of you would be interested in making contributions, information wise, to it?

I think, like, everyone who writes analysis. Including your brainless friend Yasha.

Actually there are plenty of free wiki softwares a la punbb and gallery....

The best thing about this wiki (assuming it gets off the ground) is that there is plenty of detailed info, essays and other stuff on SKU, its themes and its characters, a lot of it laying in various threads of this forum.

I think this is a fantastic idea and if I ever have time again (perhaps this summer?) I would happily contribute. I also have super selfish reasons for wanting this made, since there's a possibility that I might be doing an independent study on gender roles in international comics (read: shoujo manga) next year and I would love to have an even more centralized location for information and interpretation of SKU.
Also, I love the name and logo that Tamago came up with. They are full of win.

Forgive me Gio, but I'm not so sure I follow you. Can you explain this a little more for my silly brain?
I'm so pleased that many of you are interested. I will get this off the ground. I have a week of spring break to figure out how I shall do so.

Orly?
It's a beautiful ideal.
The logo is for the win and...
so is this Idea.
It's the first I've ever heard of and...and...
WIN is the only way to describe it XD
But from my seat all the way down here in Needles...all I can do is give suggestions and I can't even do that D=
But I have a friend that's net-smart (if that's the word for it)...maybe, if I could get ahold of her, could probably help with anything you might need...and if not...D=
Then that's all I can do. Unless there is anything else...but I sure hope this makes it.
It wins

There's free wiki software that you can download and install on a server/in a website hosting account to create a wiki website. :-) In fact, I think the wiki stuff that wikipedia runs off of is GNU.

I was under the impression that bella knew that there was wiki software freely available, but hosting it is the problem. Wikia or wikispaces are free hosting for wiki projects.
If bella indeed wanted to host it herself then she'd have all sorts of free options available to her from the MediaWiki thatt Wikipedia uses to tWiki, etc. However, hosting's always the costly part.

I was hoping that this would be an official Wiki. But anything goes, really. As long as the layout is pretty and professional...

Well, seriously, if you want to go with some opensource Wiki software, I can create an account and we can set it up. You can get a domain name, too. Or you can use a hosted-wiki solution. Just let me know if there's anything you'd like that I can help with. :-)
