This is a static copy of In the Rose Garden, which existed as the center of the western Utena fandom for years. Enjoy. :)
Yeah, he fanservices with the best of them, he just makes it really psychedelic as well. Did he learn this from Anno, or the other way around, I wonder?

Well, I'm hoping he can deliver on yuri with a plot. I was so disappointed with Sakura Trick this season. :\ It seemed like it was going to have a plot but it just turned out to be fanservice moe (well, I only got through like half of the first episode but that was enough for me. It might have gotten better, but I doubt it.) Yuri Bear Storm seems like it's going to be very fanservicy but since it's Ikuhara I'm going to give it the benefit of the doubt that it will be good.
I got a feeling from the revealed concept(s) that it will resemble MP in the way of quirky characters/situations. I don't think it will have SKU's level of layered story-telling/characterizations though . . .

I cannot wait to see Ikuhara's new show. I am tired watching forgettable yuri series. Maybe my standard are too hard but the only yuri show I like are Utena and Kashimashi: Girl Meets Girl (I don't count anime with lesbians like Card Captor Sakura). Often I found the plot boring or even too over-dramatic. I think the worst Kannazuki no Miko with the rape scene but even before that scene the show bored me.

Thanks you so much for posting this, Shadow!
Yep, it definitely leans towards the quirky, off-beat side ala Penguindrum. The art style is very little-girl-ish, and I'm unsure if I will love the characters the way I do the SKU bunch. But, I'm sure the story will still be one that's intricate and mature (and filled with tear jerkers), cause I'm quite sure that Ikuhrara do not do 'shallow'.

I can't find a post about this here... but I'm probably just too fired up to use the search page properly
Director Kunihiko Ikuhara's "Penguinbear" website started a "count down" on Wednesday, beginning with the number 5.

Interesting, Also why did't anybody mentioned that they release a manga for the show back in February, nobody in this thread mention that, also the scans for both chapter 1 and 2 have been uploaded if anyone's interested on Eatmanga:
http://eatmanga.com/Manga-Scan/Yuri-Kum … rashi-001/
it weird that nobody mention that the manga was release but then again the manga is still in its early stages so we don't know whats going to happen next in terms of story, Utena did't becomes its own thing until the black rose where Akio was introduce, Penguindrum started to get better when Ringo's character arc was put out of the way and the show started to focus on the past of its main characters as the basics of it's plot and the stuff surrounding the subway bombing.

I think it may have been posted in another thread? I'm not sure, but thanks for posting the link here!

I first brought up the manga version back on the second page of this very thread...
Looks like we'll be getting our Yuri Kuma Arashi anime news on Monday! Please don't disappoint, Ikuhara! (Although to be honest, I'm still wary of it potentially being full of male gaze; that said, finding out more about the mangaka did make me feel better about the project.)

The countdown on the penguinbear website ended:
Not sure if it's an anime announcement or what. The yuribear website crashed immediately from too many people trying to get on it.

The hexagon now has 8.25, 9.15, 9.30, 10.10, 10.20 and 10.30 written around it.
Could be times (tomorrow morning) or possibly dates (starting with 25 August).
In any case the project is confirmed as definitely real!!

Anime apparently confirmed:

I'm excited and scared at the same time. I googled the Japanese name someone posted here and I found a screenshot of panty shot like really why no stop.

The official site has just updated... with a new colour scheme, and to say that the series will begin airing in January next year. That's it.
Ikuhara is such a tease.

Ah! That's only 4 months away *.* The manga chapter I read didn't inspire much in me but I still have faith it'll be a watchable show. Anything to stop Ikuhara getting rusty. I secretly dream of a Be Papas reunion

4 months? I can't wait 4 months, Space dandy is ending soon and Stardust Crusaders just ended it's second cour ended & it won't air again until January 2015...
At least there's a new universal century gundam anime to watch which much to my amazement has Tomino is directing, that at least something interesting to watch.

Well, Mushishi is coming back soon, at least. And I am curious to see that new series by Ghibli. Find out whether Goro has improved since the disaster that was Tales of Earthsea.

I had not even heard of this before
I don't know, it does not look all that promising but I would end up watching it anyway, Ikuhara or not, because I am a sucker for all things even remotely yuri (even if this means I end up watching such drivel as Strawberry Panic and Sakura Trick). Then again, when I first heard of Madoka's main premise I was not too impressed either and boy did it turn out to be amazing. So we'll see.

All those panty shots in the design sheets are pretty worrying, to say the least...
I'm a bit amused at how the magazine article has all these character design sheets and actual information (not that I can read any of it!) while the only things the official site updated with today are a new key visual and the list of main characters' seiyuu. I said it last time, but Ikuhara really is being a tease with the site!
Ginko (short-haired girl) has the same seiyuu as Himari, by the way.

I'm pretty wary on account of all the signs pointing to excessive fan service, but I believe in Ikuhara, and so at any rate I'm sure it'll be better than a lot of the excessive fan service shows coming out these days.

I understand people who aren't very fond of fanservice are worrying the show has too much fanservice, but so far, while it does some fanservice, that doesn't too far for me. Then again I watched HighSchool DxD and To Love Ru so I guess the definition of too much fanservice is different for many people.

Aw, that's awesome!
For me, it does look like a little too much fanservice, considering the series isn't even out yet and there's already panty shots. But I'll still give it a chance! It might not be too bad. After all, Mawaru Penguindrum turned out to be really good and if they had put out preview pictures of Himari's transformation sequence that would have looked like a lot of fanservice too.
