This is a static copy of In the Rose Garden, which existed as the center of the western Utena fandom for years. Enjoy. :)
Watched it earlier today. I'm interested :3 And the penguins are cute...
I drew a picture of Chu-chu with Penguin #1 a few minutes ago because of their eyebrows

So, Ikuni likes the freehand-looking lines for buildings, I guess. I was surprised how nostalgic that and flat, single color hair could make me. I assume there's a plan behind the very quick turn to eroticization in the last third of the first ep.
And, has
been posted yet?

AHAHAHA, someone's seen his NOTAkio outfit.

Derivatives of "Ooh Mister Darcy" always make me chuckle but this is downright hilarious.

I'm wondering if there will be much action in this show. The intro makes it look like there could be some, but at the same time the show is more on the realistic side (minus penguins and survival strategy.)

Oddly, my first thought was "there's plenty of action!" You're right, of course, that there's no action so far (through episode 2) in the sense of fighting or rivalry or other shounen staples -- is this a shounen show, or seinen, or shoujo, or what, by the way? What do people think? But there is plenty of psychological action, which happens to be my favorite kind If this show is like Utena in any way, it's that one: the real action is going on inside the characters' heads, and we see it only dimly as we watch them [stalk each other, react to deaths and resurrections, and reflect a little densely about fate]. I'm enjoying the action!

For this I simply view this as a story because it doesn't have the typical shoujo feel to it the way Sailor Moon or Utena did.
I would actually think this is Seinen because I felt that the target protagonist is... a bit scattered. The camera isn't focusing on any of the 3 siblings in particular. Art style defintely feels shoujo, but I feel there's a level of "matureness" to this show that's typically not expressed in shoujo or shounen. Many seinen works I've seen so far have been pretty cryptic like this. It's an atmosphere I don't pick up in shonen/shoujo anime/manga.

Maybe a seinen/josei mix?
edit: Apparently the Survival Strategy theme song is a remake of an old 80s Japanese song. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tsa1ZyrFGj0

What's with Ikuhara and curry? This curry episode was just...weird. Also I'm starting to dislike Kanba more and liking Ringo a bit more.
And kinda spoiler: I now ship Ringo/Himari just because they ate curry together.
And some theory stuff: I think it's pretty obvious now that starts represent fate and that Ringo has an ocean theme going on. However, I have a feeling that she makes her own fate because she acts on the writing in the diary. She still has the option not to act on, yet she does.

This latest episode actually makes me feel more conflicted about Ringo, she's definitely creepy, but still likable in a weird way. I also have a feeling this show isn't going to fit cleanly in to any genre

What does "Fabulous Max" mean? [Tabuki's girlfriend] says it after [Ringo sneaks off with the curry]. Am I missing something?

Isn't Ikuhara a genre unto himself?

Yes. He is.
And it seems pretty straight up fantasy, at this point, which is, technically, a genre.

Fab. To the max. Maximum fabulosity.
Or, so I assume.

What timeslot is this airing in? Just wondering.

Speculation: One of the symbols on the bottom of the site says 95. The show mentions a red train, and one such train is associated with the Marunouchi station. Because of that, some speculate that the series might be related to or at least reference the sarin terrorist attacks that happened in the Marunouchi station in 1995.
Man... you guys think Ikuhara would go there? If the characters are somehow related (maybe victims) to the terrorist attack it would be a rather twisted twist (lol?)
There's a clue in Episode 3. Look at the flashback panel:
March 20th, 2006 - Oginome Family Apartment - Ringo Oginome 11 years old
There's something strange with this panel: it seems much more specific than the vague ones we've seen so far. It's the first time we see a complete date in the show (the flashbacks in Episode 1 and 2 didn't have any), but it goes even further stating that Ringo was 11 years old on that day. All of that while repeating one of the focal points of this episode which, once again, is connected to the "fate/destiny" theme that we keep hearing about in the series: "Curry day" - "our fate has been written in stone since that day."
And what coincidentally happened exactly 11 years before on the Marunouchi Line, on March 20, 1995?

After watching episode 3, I have no words for Ringo... -_-
EDIT: I just realized how punny Ikuni is with the term Karei.

@the_architect: You are awesome! I am excited to see how deep Ikuhara will go with that. I'm curious as to what curry has to do with all of it. Curry Day in Japan happens on January 22 so it can't be related to the terrorist attack. Probably had nothing to do with the real curry day.
A poster on anime blog revealed this to me: Ringo's diary must've belonged to her dead sister. The diary expresses how close the writer and their mother are, but Ringo doesn't seem to have a great relationship with her mom. Ringo must be using the diary to recreate dates/activities her sister had/did with Tabuki to make him fall in love with her. It doesn't tell the future.

Won't be too surprising, actually, if that is the case.
The subway and the signs have been a major theme to this show. And, the commercial break footage is essentially a map of where the train is going.
Maybe it will also explain what happened to Himari's parents. I don't think they "died" because of that, per se, but maybe the brothers thought they were partly responsible for that.

Oh wow! Thanks for that, the_architect. That makes this all much more interesting and sensical.
On surface, this all seems really shoujo-like with the over-protective brothers, the curry made with love, etc., (this last episode especially). The idea that it might be hiding something like that is pretty cool.

Hey does someone who follows this stuff better than I do know why Nutbladder didn't translate episode 3? I preferred their translations on the first two episodes.
Also just because you're curious is no reason to watch Nyanpire. Jesus.
Offline
LOL Nyanpire wasn't too bad. It had its cute moments. It'd be a lot more bearable if it wasn't for that awful 5 minute music video at the end of every episode.

This episode felt like it was Ikuhara's way of making sure Utena fans were paying attention. I think every Nanami episode was covered in it.

I'm starting to like Kanba more and more, what does that say about me?!
Even though he is very similar to Touga, I like how more open he is, like the way he spoke about Ringo in the latest episode. He also seems to genuinely like other people, so there's that too. Psst, I didn't like Touga.
Offline
You all watch, Kanba has got this whole air of secrecy, sex and hidden responsibility about him -going into Ringo's room and closing the door, having access to all sorts of burglary and stalking equipment, dating famous girls, turning over the photographs of their family when Ringo visited, having something torn from his chest and kissing his sister in private.
Sho will be the one with the creepy, dark, perverted secret.
