This is a static copy of In the Rose Garden, which existed as the center of the western Utena fandom for years. Enjoy. :)

Where do you go to school? That place is huge!! I can't read the writing very well. Is it a boarding school? My school is not so good. We don't even have a map on the internet...
The writing is a little small because I had to resize it. My school is technically a private school, but the town actually pays for students to attend, so mostly normal students go there.
It may be private, but we don't have uniforms. I kind of wish that we did. I like the concept of uniforms, but I haven't worn a skirt of my own free will in years. Once, while I was discussing uniforms with my sister, I said that we should have uniforms like the ones at Ohtori Academy. It didn't take me long before I realized what an utterly stupid thing that was to say.

First of all, I'd totally go to Ohtori. If I have to wear the uniform, I'm stealing movie Shiori's thigh-highs.
And am I the only one who didn't love Nanami's Duelist uniform? Of course, it could be because I'd mentally reworked it into a catsuit with black thigh-high boots.
Then again, if I enroll in the university...(you know there has to be one.)

I've been thinking about it since this topic was opened, and I'm still not quite sure. All the freaky stuff kind of scares me. The abundance of sex vibes, too. (it just wouldn't work out even though I'm a very sexual being; I'm picky as hell and shy, to boot)
And I suspect I couldn't resist going HAY WANNA BE FRIENDS on Utena, so Akio would probably mindfuck me.

Someone at last!
I think school uniforms are an awesome thing. More often than not people think I'm insane for having such a thought.
My enthusiasm would probably evaporate if I was actually obliged to wear one, though...

I like it, but a friend of mine says that she looks like Charley Brown, and insists that I should design Charley Brown's clothes for my Nanami Sim.

Honestly, I do like the Ohtori Uniform. My first time through the series, I was glad that Utena didn't wear that uniform, but when I finally saw episode 12, I was surprised to see just how good it looked on her. I also like how Juri looks in that uniform, especially with her hair down. As for the rest of the girls who wear the uniform, I have no problem with it whatsoever.

I meant uniforms in RL
The Ohtori uniform looks strange at first, but it grows on you.

Oh... o.o
Yes, I think that uniforms are a good idea in real life. Of course, if I ever suggested it to the school board, I would be shot by my peers if they ever found out.

Exactly :p
I went to a private high school and during one class we talked about school uniforms... everyone was so feverishly against them I was afraid to say a word
I admit it, the biggest reason for me liking uniforms is that I'm lazy and hate picking out clothes every day.

I'm the same way. I hate picking out clothes, and could generally care less about what I wear, but apparently it really matters.
I actually heard that my school might start issuing uniforms because the clothes kids wear these days are so outrageous. I hope they do, especially since our school uniforms would probably be red, and red is my favorite color.

I only like uniforms if they make me look sexy.

The only places that have cool uniforms in the States are military academies. Ah, West Point. I almost considered going, too...

I would go...if only Giovanna or Yasha was the headmistress...headmistress..such an interesting word..

Note on the Ohtori uniform: unless I'm allowed to wear the actual boy's uniform as a substitute, I'm getting out. I haven't the legs for the tiny skirts, and the sleeves are capable of alternate uses as flotation devices.

If I were still in high school. I would imagine a college somewhat like Ohtori.

I'd go. I'd probably end up being one of those flailing fangirls on the side lines but still.

I suspect I'd be a very stern headmistress, and I also suspect you're not quite thinking of school, dear.

There are a few on the suits thread over on IFD... although, that's in my old uniform, I have none of me in my new one.

The university I attend is pretty crappy, especially after hurricane damage from last year...but we do have several areas that are landscaped very nicely and put one in mind of Ohtori grounds, if one squints ones eyes almost shut, and lets imagination fill in all the spots you can't see very well. I do that, while listening to J.A. Seazer songs on the ipod...sometimes come close to bumping into other students. Oh well!!!
I would certainly attend Ohtori! Like others mentioned, I could not stop myself from befriending the cast. I'd be camping out in the Rose Garden! Being manipulated by Akio - well, it's risk worth taking in my book!
Uniforms were not required when I was in school, and I am thankful. I enjoyed being able to dress in exactly what I wanted…you cannot do that when you are an adult and have a job. Usually you are stuck in another uniform, or even if you work in corporate America, you’ve still got to wear power suits in the lovely triad of beige, navy, or black. Childhood and college days are really the only time you get to act out your individual style every day with your entire wardrobe. I am all for the kids who wear entire outfits they’ve made which are completely different from normal attire. I don’t like the idea that uniforms are becoming the norm in all the schools now, they are cute in Japan, true… But I’ve seen some little private Catholic school kids who looked ridiculous in their clothes. If children’s clothing is forced to conform, eventually new things will present themselves as forms of expression - maybe an interest in art will pick up globally. Who knows?

Heck YES. If only to get out of the horrid school system with little to no opportunities. We have a graduating class of 81, and most of them are a bunch of stoner retards. *le twitch*
However, I'd request that if I had to wear a skirt, I would request an ankle-length skirt. Or I would buy a whole bunch of miniskirts and take 'em apart and make it into a long, ruffly skirt.
And immediately join the Drama club. *goes behind the screen and talks with the Shadow Girls*
