This is a static copy of In the Rose Garden, which existed as the center of the western Utena fandom for years. Enjoy. :)
So will the voting be entirely eliminated then, or will it simply be less of a component this time around?

Hmm...I say we go with Miki.

Uh, is Touga's hair green now?
Sorry that's what happens when your tired enough to fail a sobriety exam.

Miki
'Cause even in a dating sim, I can't imagine Touga really falling in love. D-ko will be like a fling for him before he finally chases after bigger fish like Utena.

I vote Touga.

I finally read all of this thread. What a blast.
I vote Miki.

That would be a very good idea, satyr, but there are more endings to the game than just the Seitokai and Utena and then Anthy (which we can't get until we get every other ending, so Anthy fans are SOL unless Dallbun wants to get every ending on D-ko's file). There's Akio's ending (which is what we got the first playthrough), there's Mikage's ending, the "perfect" ending and then Game Over (which is Chigusa's ending).
You don't have to get every ending before getting Anthy's. I did it my second time through the game.

That's another part of the game that nobody's mentioned yet, and one I'm curious to see since it shows the fruits of our efforts. Each ending, once unlocked, earns you a character badge. Even a straight up game over will earn you a badge. And badges mean unlocked content when not playing because each badge has data about a character. Which means that while they're not options, Wakaba and Nanami are possible rewards for completing the game fully. What's best of all is that if memory serves me right, the unlocked badge info is kept separate from the game saves, and instead stored globally. I know of a couple games where their unlockable content is stored globally on the battery RAM instead of directly to a saved game file.
Yes, you're right about badge info and game saves. I was curious as to what would happen if I went back to the last save point (after getting the Anthy ending) and chose the other option, and it saved the Anthy badge.

(Concerns over a lack of voting)
You know what, I just looked back over all the votes and realized that most people were actually just voting for playing through the game again on a vote-by-vote basis, but with mechanical understanding. I totally jumped the gun on accepting votes for an ending. Sorry for being so disorganized, I wasn't really expecting to be doing this again so soon.
So: although it looks like Miki came out slightly on top on the ending vote, I guess that it won't be binding, and we'll let people squabble over choices like the good old days, just with much clearer status reports on where we are and where we're heading. That way, people can skew things towards segments that we haven't seen before, for example. Then, even if we end up getting the Normal ending, I think the result will be pretty satisfying.
I'll start a new thread shortly for the new game. D-ko will remain D-ko. Thanks again for following, everyone!

Yeah? That's good to know. Actually, I hadn't heard anything about that before, but other people seemed very sure.

Wow, I walked right into that one.

It's a little bit late to be voting here, I'm afraid. The Sega Saturn fun continues in the sequel thread, located at:

The game sounds sorta interesting.
But I have zero experience with Visual Novels....

Don't worry, they aren't very difficult to play. If you want advice on getting it to run, you should totally ask around on the main game thread.
