Ok, here's another question: why was C-ko a monkey catching robot? what did that symbolise? :S

lol, thanks.
i bought a book about Utena and it refered to him as a mouse, and i was like,"Wtf?"
so i thought i'd ask

Monkey-mouse!

Some people refer to him as a monkey because of his very primate-like features. Some refer to him as a mouse because the sound he makes (chuu) is the way Japanese mice squeak. (I swear this is true. Animals from different parts of the world don't make the same sounds as Americans are used to.) Most people just call him a monkey-mouse and leave it at that. Nothing wrong with a hybrid familiar, right?
Those of us who have seen NajiMinkin's Utena Dubs, specifically episode three ("On the Night of the Boobies"), call him a pygmy marmoset because of Utena's quote at the beginning. I'll repeat it for posterity...
As Utena in Dub Three, NajiMinkin wrote:
"I don't know what a piece of jewelry given to me by a psychologically damaged pop-singing sensation has to do with beating up angry wannabe pimps I can barely understand just so I can live with a filthy Mexican and her pygmy marmoset, but so long as I score some street cred out of it, whatever!"
I personally refer to him as either a monkey-mouse or simply Anthy's familiar.

Plus, when he is swapped into Saionji's body, he sits in a tree and eats bananas, behavior more typical of a monkey than a mouse.

My gut reaction towards Chuchu has always been that Chuchu seems like a mouse because it's a Cinderella reference. You know, a girl who is treated like a slave and only associates with mice. Then she meets a prince, gets married, lives in a castle, and goes to Disney Land during Cosplay Day.
But I think I prefer to think that he's a Poke'mon.

One of my personal canons is that Chu-Chu is a morphed version of the rat Utena finds in her dorm right before Anthy cleans it up.
Except that even I agree. Tis' a monkey. The manga has him depicted as such as well.

He's a moukey...or a monkouse. Seriously, Chu-Chu's a monkey. Mice don't have tails like that.

Doesn't saionji refer to him as saru? And in the manga its very easy to tell he is a monkey, lets not forget the swirling bananas when ever he has the spotlight.

You're absolutely right, Tamago! Chu Chu is actually a very rare breed of Pokemon called a Pikarill. Akio invented the species.
(ask Baka Kakumei Reanna about them. While you're at it, ask her about Chi Chi and Cha Cha. )

TY TY *takes a bow* I'm glad yous found my Chu-Chu screencap amusing.
That aside, I always thought that Chu-Chu was a mouse until I saw him or is it her eat a banana.
Thats a good question, is Chu-Chu male or female? I thought it was male but in that episode where Wabaka's onion prince shows up and Chu-Chu goes all girly, I wonder if Chu-Chu is a girl or gay.

In the manga he is male, but in the anime... he is getting humped by the frog quite skillfully, might he be asexual, or pansexual like akio???

Ha ha, this isn't anything to do with Chuchu at all, but I'll field that one...because it's about my favourite character. It's referring directly to Nemuro, because he was a "computer-like man" who didn't think outside the boundaries of his work. He thought there was no use for emotion. The monkey-catching robot is the same, it does as it is programmed to do. It works. It never gets lonely. Yet when Tokiko looks at it, she remarks: "But when others look at you, they get lonely." It's the entire basis of their doomed relationship. Tokiko looked at Nemuro, and his isolated life made her feel badly for him. When he recognised that in her, he latched onto both her and Mamiya as not only the ones who showed him the problem, but also as being the solution. WHICH WAS BAD JUJU.
...as for the reason why the robot in question was designed to catch monkeys? Well. Why would you want to have a robot programmed to catch monkeys? Why would you want to have a computer-like man build a perpetual motion machine? Ask Akio. Unlike Ask Jeeves he won't give you a straight answer, but there may be a non-straight "happy ending" in it for you.
