I wanna hear Utena's semi-confused, unintentionally profound and heartbreaking one-liner of obvious advice, or those innocently confident and self-assured platitudes of hers that can sometimes hurt just as much.

Utena is closest to our heart! And also, closest to our room. Convenience counts for something, right?

D-ko:
Yeah, I'll go talk to Utena.
She'll definitely help me out...



D-ko:
Utena, are you still awake?

Utena:
Yeah, I am, but...

D-ko:
Could I sleep with you?

Utena:
Huh?

D-ko:
Now that I have a bed,
I guess that's kind of a weird thing to ask...

Utena:
Sure.
Let's sleep together. C'mon.

D-ko:
Thanks, Utena.

I tried to think of a better way to phrase "let's sleep together," but eventually gave up.

D-ko:
Hey, Utena.
Tomorrow is the duel.

Utena:
Oh... now that you mention it, that's right.

D-ko:
...you don't seem very nervous.

Utena:
Yeah... I usually duel right after a challenge, anyway
There's no three-day wait.
Honestly, why three days later?
If you're gonna have a duel, it's better to do it right away.

D-ko:
So you're pretty confident about tomorrow.

Utena:
Not particularly.
I mean, I don't even know who I'm facing.

D-ko:
But you're not worried about it?

Utena:
It's not that I'm not worried at all,
but I just have to take it as it comes.

D-ko:
Man... Utena, you're the real thing.

Utena:
So anyway, there's no use brooding about it.

D-ko:
I guess not. [giggle]

About your younger sister?

Miki:

Chigusa:

There's something interesting I want to show you.
What? It's okay, we have a little time before school starts.

D-ko:

Miki:

Chigusa:

D-ko:
"What?" I'm talking about Miki-kun and Chigusa...

Utena:

First period is gonna start any minute.
The math teacher is pretty strict about that kind of thing.

D-ko:

(the bells ring)

Anthy:
Oh, it's the first bell.

Utena:
Ah, it's because we were standing around talking...
If we don't hurry, school's gonna start.
C'mon, walk, walk!

(she hoofs it)

D-ko:
Chigusa-san and the others went in the direction
of the ruined fencing hall...
Could it be...?

...that they're going to the ruined fencing hall. Could be. Could very well be. Maybe you should follow them.

D-ko:
Chigusa-san... what are you up to?
Are you really dating Touga-san?
But Touga seemed weird this morning... I'm worried about him.

...or maybe you should go to class and worry about it ineffectually, giving Chigusa plenty of time to do whatever she had planned, and then go follow them.

D-ko:
I was worried, so I came to check it out, but...
Nobody is here after all. Maybe I was over-thinking things...

Are these Touga-san and Miki-kun's...?

Pick 'em up. You can sell them to their respective fanclubs later for a pretty penny.

Chigusa:
I'm afraid I wasn't feeling well this morning.
Excuse me. I'm still recuperating...

Teacher:
I see. Well, from now on, please contact your homeroom teacher.
We were worried.

Chigusa:
Of course.

Teacher:
Alright, then. Sit down.

Chigusa: (quietly)
You came, didn't you? To the fencing hall.

D-ko:
Eh...?

Chigusa:
But... you were too late.

D-ko:
What do you mean, Chigusa-san? It can't be that...?

D-ko can't even bring herself to think about what Chigusa, Touga, and Miki might be doing in the abandoned fencing hall.

(The bells ring, signaling the end of class. Students chat, and so on.)



Utena;
Ahh, it's over, it's over.
C'mon, let's head back.

D-ko:
Huh? But, the morning classes have only just finished...

Utena:
Nah...
Today, the school decided that we only have class in the morning.
Didn't you hear?

D-ko:
Eh? Is that right...?
And, that's right... if I believe that masked person at the ball,
today is the day that I'm supposed to disappear...
Today, if Utena loses her duel...

Utena:
What is it? Is there something on my face?

D-ko:
No, nothing like that, but...
Hey, Utena. If that card from before is right,
you have a duel today, right?

Utena:
Oh, you're right! That's today.

...dammit, Utena, we reminded you of this last night.

D-ko:

And anyway, if I win, it will probably be fine, right?

D-ko:

I'm undefeated in my four duels, you know.

Today's a half-day... let's go into town to celebrate.

so I don't know how nervous to be or anything.

We have just proved beyond any reasonable doubt that Utena just doesn't think, no wonder Anthy could sneak out to see her brother, become Mamiya to see Mikage, be at the top of the dueling arena before Utena, play with zombie Kanae and terrorize Nanami, all of this without Utena wondering where Anthy was...

Kozue never came home last night, but acording to Miki this isn't the first time. I'll bet, Miki. I'll bet .

Can I take a moment to say that in the classroom scene there's a girl sitting second to the front with the most awesome grey pig tails. Why is this girl not a duelist?

And also, God damn it Utena.

Thank you, Dalbun, for doing this for us. It's been seriously awesome, and I can but imagine the time it must have taken to play, translate, screen cap and code these posts. So many of us would never have seen it without your AWESOMENESS, so...thank you so very, very much.
