I wanna hear Utena's semi-confused, unintentionally profound and heartbreaking one-liner of obvious advice, or those innocently confident and self-assured platitudes of hers that can sometimes hurt just as much.

Utena is closest to our heart! And also, closest to our room. Convenience counts for something, right?
D-ko:
Yeah, I'll go talk to Utena.
She'll definitely help me out...
D-ko:
Utena, are you still awake?
Utena:
Yeah, I am, but...
D-ko:
Could I sleep with you?
Utena:
Huh?
D-ko:
Now that I have a bed,
I guess that's kind of a weird thing to ask...
Utena:
Sure.
Let's sleep together. C'mon.
D-ko:
Thanks, Utena.
I tried to think of a better way to phrase "let's sleep together," but eventually gave up.
D-ko:
Hey, Utena.
Tomorrow is the duel.
Utena:
Oh... now that you mention it, that's right.
D-ko:
...you don't seem very nervous.
Utena:
Yeah... I usually duel right after a challenge, anyway
There's no three-day wait.
Honestly, why three days later?
If you're gonna have a duel, it's better to do it right away.
D-ko:
So you're pretty confident about tomorrow.
Utena:
Not particularly.
I mean, I don't even know who I'm facing.
D-ko:
But you're not worried about it?
Utena:
It's not that I'm not worried at all,
but I just have to take it as it comes.
D-ko:
Man... Utena, you're the real thing.
Utena:
So anyway, there's no use brooding about it.
D-ko:
I guess not. [giggle]
I like that about you, Utena.
Utena:
Is that a compliment?
D-ko:
Of course.
Somehow, talking to you made me feel better.
Thanks, Utena.
D-ko asks Utena what she thinks about the duel tomorrow, and finds out that Utena doesn't think.
+2 UTENA
We appreciate the thought, Chigusa, but you really don't need to bother.
D-ko:
Good morning, Miki-kun.
Miki:
Oh, good morning. Tenjou-sempai.
Anthy:
Oh, you aren't walking with Kozue-chan today?
Miki:
Oh... Kozue didn't return home last night.
Utena:
What, really? You must be worried.
Miki:
This isn't the first time it's happened.
I'm sure she'll be here at school.
Utena:
Hmm... I wonder where she could have gone...
Chigusa:
Don't be stupid.
Doesn't that mean she snuck out for a date?
D-ko:
Chigusa-san...
Why is Touga-san with...?
Chigusa:
Oh? Do you think it's strange for me to walk with my man?
Or are you just jealous?
D-ko:
No, I just...
Chigusa:
Good morning, Kaoru Miki-kun.
Miki:
I'd like to ask as well.
Why are you with Touga-sempai?
(Has your target changed?)
Chigusa:
[chuckle] Are you worried?
About your younger sister?
Miki:
...
Chigusa:
Well, that's fine. You can come, too.
There's something interesting I want to show you.
What? It's okay, we have a little time before school starts.
Well?
Miki:
I understand.
D-ko:
Miki-kun!
Miki:
Don't worry. I'll be back soon.
Chigusa:
In that case, excuse us.
Come, let's go... Touga.
(they leave)
D-ko:
Will it really be okay...?
Utena:
What?
D-ko:
"What?" I'm talking about Miki-kun and Chigusa...
Utena:
Oh, yeah, you're right...
First period is gonna start any minute.
The math teacher is pretty strict about that kind of thing.
D-ko:
That's not what I'm talking about...!
(the bells ring)
Anthy:
Oh, it's the first bell.
Utena:
Ah, it's because we were standing around talking...
If we don't hurry, school's gonna start.
C'mon, walk, walk!
(she hoofs it)
D-ko:
Chigusa-san and the others went in the direction
of the ruined fencing hall...
Could it be...?
...that they're going to the ruined fencing hall. Could be. Could very well be. Maybe you should follow them.
D-ko:
Chigusa-san... what are you up to?
Are you really dating Touga-san?
But Touga seemed weird this morning... I'm worried about him.
...or maybe you should go to class and worry about it ineffectually, giving Chigusa plenty of time to do whatever she had planned, and then go follow them.
D-ko:
I was worried, so I came to check it out, but...
Nobody is here after all. Maybe I was over-thinking things...
Huh?
D-ko:
These...
Are these Touga-san and Miki-kun's...?
Pick 'em up. You can sell them to their respective fanclubs later for a pretty penny.
(the door to the classroom opens.)
Teacher: (Male)
Sanjouin...? What is it?
Chigusa:
I'm afraid I wasn't feeling well this morning.
Excuse me. I'm still recuperating...
Teacher:
I see. Well, from now on, please contact your homeroom teacher.
We were worried.
Chigusa:
Of course.
Teacher:
Alright, then. Sit down.
Chigusa: (quietly)
You came, didn't you? To the fencing hall.
D-ko:
Eh...?
Chigusa:
But... you were too late.
D-ko:
What do you mean, Chigusa-san? It can't be that...?
D-ko can't even bring herself to think about what Chigusa, Touga, and Miki might be doing in the abandoned fencing hall.
(The bells ring, signaling the end of class. Students chat, and so on.)
Utena;
Ahh, it's over, it's over.
C'mon, let's head back.
D-ko:
Huh? But, the morning classes have only just finished...
Utena:
Nah...
Today, the school decided that we only have class in the morning.
Didn't you hear?
D-ko:
Eh? Is that right...?
And, that's right... if I believe that masked person at the ball,
today is the day that I'm supposed to disappear...
Today, if Utena loses her duel...
Utena:
What is it? Is there something on my face?
D-ko:
No, nothing like that, but...
Hey, Utena. If that card from before is right,
you have a duel today, right?
Utena:
Oh, you're right! That's today.
...dammit, Utena, we reminded you of this last night.
D-ko:
"That's today..."
Utena, did you forget about it?
Utena:
No, I remembered that it was coming up soon, but...
You know, usually duels happen right away,
(because someone suddenly gets all crazy or whatever.)
So anyway, I wonder why the 25th?
I think it's better to duel right away.
D-ko:
...hey, Utena? If you lose, I might disappear.
Utena:
Yeah. But, we don't know if that's true or not...
And anyway, if I win, it will probably be fine, right?
D-ko:
Yeah... probably.
Utena:
I may not look it, but I'm pretty strong.
I'm undefeated in my four duels, you know.
D-ko:
...yeah.
Utena:
C'mon, don't look so gloomy.
Today's a half-day... let's go into town to celebrate.
If it's okay, want to come with me?
D-ko:
Utena, you have a duel this evening!
Utena:
Oh, yeah.
D-ko:
Keep it together, Utena!
Utena:
Yeah, but, unlike normal, I don't even know who I'm dueling...
so I don't know how nervous to be or anything.
D-ko:
...(sigh)
What should I do... is there anyone I can talk with besides Utena?
CHOICE:
There's nobody
Next time: another "you lose" ending.

I can. Hurr, hurr, hurr...

We have just proved beyond any reasonable doubt that Utena just doesn't think, no wonder Anthy could sneak out to see her brother, become Mamiya to see Mikage, be at the top of the dueling arena before Utena, play with zombie Kanae and terrorize Nanami, all of this without Utena wondering where Anthy was...

And this time again. Such perfect characterization.
Apart from the faculty, the police, our parents, or even our friends on Facebook, there's nobody we can talk to.
Offline
Kozue never came home last night, but acording to Miki this isn't the first time. I'll bet, Miki. I'll bet .
Can I take a moment to say that in the classroom scene there's a girl sitting second to the front with the most awesome grey pig tails. Why is this girl not a duelist?
And also, God damn it Utena.

D-ko asks Utena what she thinks about the duel tomorrow, and finds out that Utena doesn't think.
Could a more adequate summary of SKU exist? Probably not.
I am excited for elevators.

Snort. Our dear Prince is like talking to a wall sometimes.

Suddenly, D-ko has a panic attack.
D-ko:
Nobody!?
What should I do... I don't have anyone to talk to!
I'm all alone...
What should I do... What should I do...?
D-ko:
Huh? Was this building always here?
"Nemuro Memorial Hall"... I've never heard of it.
Doesn't look like it's marked in my student handbook...
But the door is open, so I guess it's okay to go in?
Hey D-ko, you didn't fill out a form.
D-ko:
I... don't have any friends.
I did at my old school.
But at this academy...
D-ko:
I'm not the sort of student
who comes to Ohtori Academy.
I'm surrounded by all these wonderful, goregous people...
But I'm just a useless, ordinary girl.
Mikage:
Deeper.
Go deeper...
D-ko:
I don't have any friends.
So... books are my only friends.
Only books, which can always make me smile...
D-ko:
The real me is just a boring girl,
who only reads books.
The me who exists in this gorgeous world...
is just a lie.
Mikage:
I understand.
I suppose you have no choice but to Revolutionize the World.
The path before you has been prepared.
Interesting! Apparently D-ko is a bookworm desperately trying to reinvent herself at her new school. That fits. (Her best subject is even Japanese.)
YOU BECAME A BLACK ROSE DUELIST.
Utena:
What the heck? She was a pretty weak Duelist, huh?
Anthy:
Rather disappointing, wasn't it?
Mikage:
Honestly.
It's your own fault, Mikage. What about D-ko screamed "Duelist material" to you?
And that's that. Not a great ending, but I wasn't really expecting it to be: it's the "total failure" mirror image of the Akio ending, after all. And I accomplished my goal of covering a whole lot of new ground, including all those Chigusa-pleasing choices that one ordinarily wouldn't take.
I think I'm done here: I don't plan on doing another playthrough like this, or at least not anytime soon. I'm going to miss exploring Ohtori with D-ko, but I have other projects I want to work on. Everyone, thanks a lot for following along and helping these game threads to thrive! It's been a pleasure!
P.S. Did I mention that when you load up the second disc, a random member of the cast sings the "Se-gaaaa!" riff? ...because they do.

man, Utena is so damn cruel sometimes, it's like she didn't payed any attention to poor D-ko worries.

...Mikage's "Honestly." Just... I thought I could not love this man anymore than I already did. HOW WRONG I WAS.
Thank you, Dalbun, for doing this for us. It's been seriously awesome, and I can but imagine the time it must have taken to play, translate, screen cap and code these posts. So many of us would never have seen it without your AWESOMENESS, so...thank you so very, very much.
...and you comment about Utena's thought processes will give me joy for many years to come. IT'S SO DAMN TRUE.

Marvelous, Dallbun. Bravo! Bravo!
Thank you so much; this thread, and the two preceding it, have been a very great pleasure to read and play along with.
Offline
Dallbun, you're amazing.
Also, this play through further shows that Utena just doesn't think/lacks common sense.

I got to see douche-in-distress Touga. My life is complete .

Thank you Dallbun! I'll have to learn Japanese so I can play this game myself

...Honestly.
I wonder what happened to the Chigusa duel?
And it all makes sense! Bookworm.. hmmm..
Dallbun, thank you so much for doing all of this for us. It's been so fun!
Offline
Yes, Dallbun, thanks!
Even though I didn't participate much (I prefer to lurk for these threads. ) I still think the whole thing is really freaking sweet.
Offline
Yeah, a round of applause and vuvuzela (sp?) for Dallbun for running this.
Offline
The "Honestly" literally had me laughing out loud. I hope I didn't wake my flatmate.
Thanks so much Dallbun for the amazing work!

Well, most men and Utena lack emphaty.
Dallbun! Thank you for all the time and effort you put in this thread, Thank you so much, Muchas Gracias.

Dalbun, this, and all the treads preceding, were a real treat. Thank you so much. I can't imagine how much time and effort this must have taken.
