radioactivefuzzy - Pencil Day
This is one
of my best dreams ever! It was so vivid, and I even used all six
senses, but it's kinda (very) long. Sorry if it's irritating, or
too long to deal with...
Anyway, I'll set the stage
first- it took place in Ohtori Academy, but my mind mutated the
academy's architecture into a combination of my high school's cafeteria
and a Barnes and Noble location near my house. There were about
20 people in the cafeteria, and they were all buzzing because it
was PENCIL DAY! Pencil Day was a special school holiday where everyone
gave and traded pencils with their friends and people they wanted
to get to know better. Plus everyone had such cool pencils to trade,
it was fun to see what kinds you could get! The dream began by a
window in the cafeteria that showed off my school's waking-life
Peace Garden. I was Utena, and I wore my uniform from the series.
I walked around the cafeteria
for a bit after looking at the garden for a while. I held a bunch
of NY Board of Education pencils and sought out people who would
give me nice pencils in exchange for them. I spotted Touga across
the room and considered talking to him, but when I stopped to think,
Saionji walked up to me. He had a wicked grin on his face, and he
said "I hope you like this pencil, Miss Utena... I got it just for
you." and he handed me the most beautiful pencil I had ever seen
in my entire life! It was made from periwinkle-colored mother-of-pearl
that showed off rainbows when turned over in the light, and the
lead was a rich shade of violet. I sniffed the pencil, and found
that it had been scented with lavender. Still, beauty ain't everything.
I didn't trust the smile Saionji gave me, or his pencil. I decided
to go upstairs to the library to think things over.
I had to take an escalator
to get to the second floor of the building. Though the place was
based on a bookstore, there were only about 100 books there, 50
each on shelves on opposite sides of the floor. One set of books
was just to the left of the escalator, the other in the far right
corner. I went to the right first. Miki was reading in a comfy chair
next to the books there. When he saw me he gave me a gentle smile(think
Yukito from Card Captor Sakura), stood up and said, "If you want
to learn about bringing revolution to the world, there's books on
it on this shelf here!" Then he went back to his reading. I checked
out the shelf and spotted a neat looking book with a picture of
myself (Utena-dream-me, not the waking-world me!) in my uniform
from the movie. The book jacket was light pink and the title was
in powder blue, though I don't remember what the title was. I was
just about to pick it up for a look-see when I heard a commotion
by the opposite shelves.
I hurried over, and apparently
something horrible happened. Nanami and her cronies were crying,
and Touga was rubbing the back of his head like he'd been hit by
something, but other than that I was completely clueless as to what
happened. I got a quick idea, though, when I noticed Saionji standing
nearby with that same wicked grin from when he gave me his pencil.
Suddenly I was in my dorm room.
My room seemed to be an attic
in an old house, but it had been fixed up nicely. There was a cauldron
with a fire inside it in the middle of the room. I pulled a chain
on the cauldron that made the fire rise and spark. Then, since I
still hadn't gotten rid of them, I began putting the BoE pencils
into the fire. I chewed on one while the others burned. I tried
putting Saionji's pencil into the fire, but it wouldn't burn. Anthy
(movie-style) then entered. She said, "Hello, Utena! Wow, that's
a beautiful pencil you have there!" I replied, "Saionji gave it
to me. I tried putting it in the fire, but look! It's not even singed!
Oh, that Saionji...I don't trust him or his stupid pencils!" And
then I woke up. And the first thought that entered my head when
I woke up was "NO, WAIT! It was Akio and Touga, they were behind
this! Saionji was trying to protect me!" I still can't get that
thought out of my head. Guess I'll have to dream a nice apology
now... |
